Death of Mr. Alf Edward

Published: Thursday, March 27, 1947

Mr. Alfred William Edward, of Darook Park Road, Cronulla, died suddenly on Monday at Bateman's Bay. The deceased, who was 62 years of age, is survived by three daughters (Mesdames Edwards and Hustler, and Miss Agnes Edward), Mrs. Edward predeceased her husband. The late Mr. Edward had been on the clerical staff of Sutherland Shire Council for about twelve years, but had not enjoyed the best of health for some time. He lost a leg while serving with the A.I.F. in the 1914-18 war. He was a son of the late Mr. A. Edward, who resided in Harrow Road, Rockdale, in the early nineties, and who was a popular local vocalist in those days. A brother was Mr. Dave Edward, a former secretary of the Prime Ministers' Department, who died at Canberra a few years ago. Mr. John Edward, of Pott's Point, is now the only surviving member of this old Rockdale family.
